In Genesis (1:20) it says "And God said, Let the waters bring abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and the fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven."
I'd like to cut in here and point out the "firmament of heaven" part. I will do a blog about this later on. If you have not researched the idea that heaven is simply the sky, you will want to read this when I post it. Now back to our discussion at hand.
I've always had a problem with Genesis chapter 1. Because until you read further into the Bible to find out a little back history, it makes God look insane. After all what sane being speaks to himself? After all it does read "And God said". Who was he talking to? Some will argue that he is talking to his Angels. As you will find out in future writings, this simply cannot be the reality of the situation.
My question in this blog as suggested by the title is why is there no mention of micro organisms at the time of creation. We know they had to exist, so why did these life forms who are the most abundant on the planet not get mentioned?
If you read starting at Genesis chapter 1 verse 20 through Genesis chapter 1 verse 25, you'll see that micro organisms are not mentioned at all. Some may argue that the abundant life from water includes micro organisms but this is later explained in the Bible as fish and whales. You can say the creeping things include micro organisms but this too is later explained as insects and cattle.
My belief of why micro organisms are not mentioned in the Bible is quite simple. "They cannot be seen with the naked eye, and therefor are not mentioned by man when he wrote the Bible."
